1. Information We Collect
Aina Adventures may collect the following information to provide and improve our services:
- Location Data: With your permission, we access your device location to show nearby points of interest, provide navigation, and enable proximity-based guide features. Location data is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers.
- Photos and Videos: Content you voluntarily upload to community galleries is stored on our servers.
- Device Identifiers: We generate an anonymous device identifier stored locally on your device to track usage limits and app preferences. This identifier is not linked to your personal identity.
- Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage statistics such as screen views, feature interactions, and message counts to improve the app experience.
- Chat Data: Conversations with AI guides are processed through third-party AI services (xAI/Grok) to generate responses. Chat history is stored locally on your device and is not retained on our servers.
- Subscription Data: If you subscribe to premium features, payment processing is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card details, billing address, or financial information. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status from RevenueCat, our subscription management provider.

3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:
- xAI (Grok): Powers our AI tour guide conversations. Chat messages are sent to xAI servers for processing. See xAI Privacy Policy.
- OpenWeather API: Provides real-time weather data based on geographic coordinates.
- RevenueCat: Manages subscription status and entitlements. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Handles all payment processing for subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- Google Maps / Waze: Used for external navigation directions when you choose to get directions to a location.
4. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
We take reasonable measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
- Community Media: Photos and videos uploaded to community galleries are stored on our servers for as long as the content remains posted. When you delete your uploaded content, it is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
- Chat History: Stored locally on your device only. Uninstalling the app removes all chat history. We do not retain copies of your conversations on our servers.
- Device Identifiers: Stored locally on your device. We retain anonymous usage records associated with device identifiers for up to 12 months, after which they are automatically purged.
- Passport and Achievement Data: Stored locally on your device. This data is not synced to our servers.
- Partner Account Data: Business partner account information (email, hashed password) is stored on our servers for as long as the account remains active. Partners may request account deletion at any time.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- You can control location access through the app settings or your device settings at any time
- You can delete uploaded photos and videos at any time through the app
- You can use the app without creating an account
- You can uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data (chat history, passport progress, preferences)
5a. Rights for California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information that we have collected.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

5b. Rights for European Economic Area, UK, and International Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with similar data protection laws, you have the following rights:
- Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to Erasure ("Right to Be Forgotten"): You may request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal obligations requiring retention.
- Right to Restrict Processing: You may request that we limit how we use your data.
- Right to Data Portability: You may request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object: You may object to certain types of processing, including processing for direct marketing.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

Legal Basis for Processing: We process your data based on (a) your consent (location data, photo uploads), (b) contractual necessity (providing the service you requested), and (c) legitimate interests (app improvement, security).
6. International Data Transfers
Aina Adventures is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
7. Children's Privacy
Aina Adventures is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under the applicable age, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 8. Do Not Track Signals
The App does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. However, we do not engage in cross-site tracking or sell your personal information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
